The EFT Personal Peace Procedure developed by the founder of EFT, Gary Craig, is a process that he believes “should be the healing centerpiece for every person on earth”. Done thoroughly the Personal Peace Procedure can leave you feeling emotionally balanced and peaceful.
Over the course of your lifetime you will have experienced many negative feelings and emotions linked to specific events with the result being a lifetime of accumulated “baggage”. You can even see it physically in some people as they may have rounded shoulders from the “weight” of these heavy burdens. The Personal Peace Procedure is a very worthwhile process to undertake. I say undertake because it does need a certain level of commitment, however the results can be spectacular and very worthy of the time taken to complete the process. With that said though, it is really an ongoing process as everyday stressors can create negative feelings, though the upside of doing the Personal Peace Procedure is that you are far less likely to be triggered by others!
Get hold of a small notebook, one that fits inside your hand bag so you can carry it around with you. Make a list of every negative event you can think of if it feels safe to do so. You might like to divide the pages in your notebook up into years or people such as headings on pages with ages 0-10, 11-20, 21-30 etc. Then think back to that time in your life and jot down events that happened at that age. An alternative to this is to have people headings such as Mum, Dad, Sister, Brother, Grandparents etc. Don’t forget to include friends (and enemies!), nannies, school teachers, and anybody else of significance. Also be sure to list significant events such as going to hospital, your first day of school etc. Next to each event listed make a note of the SUDS level as you recall the event now, rather than how you think you felt about it at the time. 0 = no emotion is felt about the event and 10 is feeling overwhelmed with emotion when the event is recalled. If you have remembered the event but don’t feel any emotion when thinking about it, Gary Craig suggests doing 10 “rounds” of EFT Tapping on the event in case you may be repressing your emotions. You should have a minimum of at least fifty separate events.
By using EFT Tapping on at least one issue a day over a period of 2-3 months, the past negative events listed in your notebook should be cleared. Don’t be surprised if while tapping you recall other events previously forgotten. Also be sure to tap on all aspects of an issue to collapse it completely. Persevere with the Personal Peace Procedure as the emotional relief you will feel when done thoroughly will be well worth it.
